Modern Contemprorary
Design Purpose: Private development and Private Living in St Heliers This contemporary house stands out from typical inner city housing solutions. It has a unique design that meets the growing demand for modern homes in the beautiful area of St Heliers. The combination of metal vertical cladding, brick, and horizontal weatherboard cladding, along with large joinery openings, create an elegant structure. The design includes 2 master bedrooms with ensuites, 2 double bedrooms, and an open concept living/dining area on the first floor, offering stunning views of St Heliers bay and Rangitoto. The double garage has EV power connections, keeping up with today's technology.
The objective of the design was to create an affordable housing solution with three bedrooms for each dwelling by subdividing and developing multi-units or duplex housing. The 7 Jupiter Street site posed a challenge due to its uneven boundary lines. Our proposed solution was to design four two-story townhouse units as two duplexes. The site had two common boundaries with a local primary school, which required multiple meetings with the Ministry of Education to obtain their approval for the Auckland Unitary Plan land use and development infringements. Ultimately, we were able to establish a positive relationship with the school and effectively communicate our vision for the proposed development. As a result, we were able to achieve both resource and building consent approvals, which was a satisfying accomplishment.
